Police: Love Hate Relationship

My last five video post have been about police brutality. Most of the victims are minorities from poor neighborhoods doing something they should not be doing. I understand the need for the police. My personal experience has been 50/50. Some bad experiences, some good. Naturally I can easily recall the bad experiences than the good ones.

The police are basically a reflection of our violent society. As our cities become more violent so has some our police men and women. I wouldn't want there job, but if had to I would like to believe I would treat citizens with empathy, dignity and respect. Just as I would want to be treated. As a civilian I expect police officers to treat my family, friends and the average Joe with empathy, dignity and respect when they encounter a police officer.

Some would say the media is sensationalizing and only reporting the bad and not reporting the good, heroic police officers. Well I say they are suppose to be the good guys, but when you see the police brutalize someone or shoot them 50 times. Well that's out of the ordinary or it should be and it should be reported. But it's becoming the norm. I have family members who are police officers and I can't imagine the stuff they see everyday when they report for duty, from murders, child abductions, rapes etc... The worst of the worst. Again I really do believe the majority of police officers are good people. It's just scary knowing that someone can beat your ass, shoot and kill and get away with it.

Remember treat police officers with respect and you should live another day.
